Training a fast recall

I've never had a cough potato boxer, they are always willing to take part of any sport I had in mind. That said they can get into trouble real fast, so I decided to train a recall just in case I needed to get them out of trouble.

At 8 weeks of age is the age puppies go to their new homes, I start training a little and the first thing I train is a recall. Use lots of tasty treats, from a short distance, call puppy, he comes, you treat, repeat.

As the puppy gets older the faster he wants to come to you and get his treat, increase distance and then do it from different locations and distances in your property which should be fenced.

Continue with training recall throughout the life of the dog this then becomes habit and thus you have trained the behavior you want in your dog.
